Common questions
What does the comprehensive STI panel test for?
Our 15-pathogen PCR panel covers syphilis, gonorrhoea, chlamydia, trichomonas, mycoplasma genitalium, ureaplasma, herpes simplex 1 and 2, and other less common pathogens. We swab the sites that match your exposure, including throat and rectum where relevant.
Do I need to prepare before the test?
For most STI tests, no special preparation. For urine-based chlamydia and gonorrhoea tests, please hold your urine for at least one hour before the appointment. Do not use antiseptic or scented soap on the genital area on the day of testing.
How quickly will I get my results?
PCR panel results come back in 1 to 3 working days. Syphilis and HIV rapid tests run in the clinic during your visit, with results in 20 minutes. We deliver results through the channel you nominate.
My partner tested positive. Should I get tested?
Yes, even if you have no symptoms. Many STIs are silent in the early weeks. We will discuss timing (some tests are most accurate after a short window) and treat both of you so re-infection does not happen.
